We are driven by the belief that powerful visual stories can spur action around issues that affect the most vulnerable. Stories have the power to drive social change around climate change, health care, justice reform, human rights and other critical issues. We exist to help those stories take flight. Since 2005, we have supported close to 350 projects and put over $12 million into the field. And, we are not done yet.
Our goal is to explore, support, and deepen the role of documentary film and other forms of visual storytelling in larger social change efforts. We do this through grant support focused on outreach and audience engagement, our Engagement Lab, funding partnerships and special initiatives that examine and support emerging trends in the field.
"The Fledgling Fund has invested in a generation of filmmakers to think more boldly about the impact of their stories in the world."
- Wendy Levy, NAMAC
To us, impact means supporting storytellers in their efforts to engage audiences and move them to action around issues affecting the most vulnerable. The work we support is raising awareness, deepening engagement and strengthening the work of allied organizations. We learn from our work and share resources and lessons about the powerful role of visual storytelling with the field.
