About the Project

A two-year grant beginning in 2006 to support Harlem Children's Zone Obesity Initiative, which will address the high prevalence of obesity and promote physically active lifestyles and healthy eating habits among the children Central Harlem. The Initiative will use a 3- tiered approach to assess height, weight and BMI, provide interventions of varying intensity (provision of healthy meals, regular exercise, wellness workshops and cooking classes, and a Community Green Market), and evaluate the impact.
