Latino Commission on AIDS

Grants: $130,000 over 2 years (2007/08)

About the Project

This grant supports the implementation of Latinas Por La Salud, an intensive HIV prevention program for women conducted in conjunction with Latino communities of faith in targeted high-risk neighborhoods in New York City. The Latinas Por La Salud curriculum is designed to include psycho-educational strategies, including didactic education, skills building activities, peer modeling and group dynamics and support. Consistent with these strategies, program content will include safer sex and sexuality education and skills building as well as identification of social factors increasing Latina's HIV and gender identity, sexism, women's sexuality, body image, partner violence, and sexual and reproductive anatomy, relating these topics to women's HIV risk.
