About the Project
"If they know us, they don't vote against us" - Harvey MilkWhat are you wondering about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and straight ally experiences?
NoDumbQuestions.org is an innovative global platform for asking anything, telling personal stories, and working through our differences to create a safe and welcoming world for LGBT people. The online network transforms the ask-anything, be-honest, laugh-at-ourselves approach of the Sundance award-winning film No Dumb Questions into a safe, rich, fun, heartfelt, and viral global conversation driven by an engagement strategy and web/social media design framework to captivate, challenge, and delight.
As lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people, family, or allies, one of the most powerful tools we have for achieving LGBTQ equality is our stories. But how? What do people need to know about me? And how can I use video, audio, photos, text, mobile devices and the Internet to help share my story and further LGBTQ equality?
The stakes for LGBTQ equality are high, and getting higher. Global backlash and violence against LGBT children and adults is increasing as activists, politicians and media raise the volume of the debate. The need to support the increasingly high-profile media and politics with real honest human-level dialog has never been more urgent or more possible.
Together the No Dumb Questions films and the NoDumbQuestions.org story-sharing network create an innovative and powerful toolset for creating deep and rich engagement in a timely and critical issue, and fertile ground for discovering applications of social media and short-form storytelling for social change in any issue area.
NoDumbQuestions.org is an innovative online global network where anyone can ASK their own "dumb questions,” TELL their own stories, and SHARE and CONNECT stories to social change actions. Tools and campaigns integrate seamlessly into the work of other LGBTQ equality organizations to accelerate and amplify movement-wide impact. The filmmakers have established creative and outreach partnerships with a wide array of LGBT advocacy organizations and grassroots activist networks; diversity leaders at powerful global brands; inspired and leading edge technologists; and acclaimed storytellers.
